Every week on the Aflac New York Yankees Show, we will be spotlighting current or former Yankee players and coaches with a series of awards. From defensive gems and milestones to walk-off home runs and clutch saves, if a Yankee does something important, you’ll hear about it on our show.

AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Carlos Rodon threw six innings and only allowed a single run in the Yankees’ middle game of its series with Milwaukee, and even with plenty of run support in a 15-3 victory over the Brewers, it was a first-rate effort.

Atlas Fence All-Star: What helped rescue the first game of the Yankees’ series against the Detroit Tigers was a clutch ninth-inning double by Giancarlo Stanton that drove home the tying run and led to an eventual 2-1 victory.

CNY Sealing and Paving Defender: It certainly wasn’t Clarke Schmidt’s fault that the Yankees dropped its series opener at Baltimore 2-0. Schmidt contained the potent Orioles lineup for 5 1/3 innings, only surrendering a first-inning run and three hits overall.

Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Archive: Never mind the recent history between the Yankees and Houston Astros. Back when the Astrodome opened in 1965, the first sporting event was an exhibition game between these two teams and Mickey Mantle hit a home run.

Byrne Dairy/Mooney Marketing Community Corner: It’s perfect timing that the Yankees are giving away hockey-style jerseys on May 17 for its home game against the Chicago White Sox, given that the hometown Rangers are making a serious run in the NHL playoffs.

Nye Automotive Big Bat: Alex Verdugo helped begin the Yankees’ turnaround of its series with the Milwaukee Brewers, going three-for-five with a home run and four RBIs that helped lead to a 15-3 blowout victory.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Star: Sometimes Aaron Judge is the best player, period. Helping the Yankees take its series over Milwaukee in a 15-5 romp, Judge went four-for-four with a home run, a pair of doubles, two walks and three runs scored.

Wilkins RV Rewind: After taking two of three games in Milwaukee against the NL Central-contending Brewers, the Yankees had four games at Camden Yards against the reigning AL East champion Baltimore Orioles and only managed a single victory.

U.S. Army Rising Star: Oswaldo Cabrera was a main reason why the Yankees didn’t get swept in Baltimore by the Orioles. New York’s 2-0 victory got its only offense when Cabrera sent a pitch over the fence for a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning.
