Domingo German is not the ace of the Yankees rotation, but he sure proves valuable at key moments. To salvage a split of the July 2-3 Subway Series with the Mets at Citi Field, German improved to 10-2 on the season as, over six innings, he allowed five hits and struck out six. Other than a first-inning run, German blanked the Mets the rest of the way, and continues to make a strong case that he should be no. 2 in the rotation behind Masahiro Tanaka down the road, whatever the Yankees do with the rotation before the trade deadline.
