Syracuse Orthopedic Surgeons Yankees Flashback 7/13/19

Jim Bouton passed away this week at age 80. It was Bouton pitching for the Yankees in the 1963 and 1964 World Series, winning twice in the ’64 Fall Classic despite a seven-game loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. But Bouton gained more fame by authoring the book “Ball Four” in 1970, a behind-the-scenes look at baseball that angered the game’s establishment and some of its superstars (Mickey Mantle among them), but set the template for all sports memoirs to follow as people expected a little more following Bouton’s unique tale.
