AFLAC Oustanding Performance 8/24/19

Without Zach Britton’s efforts, the Yankees may have faced a longer losing streak than it would. With his team clinging to a 6-5 lead on the Cleveland Indians last Saturday and the tying run on third base, Britton managed to coax an inning-ending double play, thus setting up Aroldis Chapman for a ninth-inning save. Britton would likely serve as a closer for any other team, but here he’s a set-up man, and vital since the Yankees’ starters, typical of baseball these days, don’t pitch deep into games too often, putting more of a burden on the bullpen.
