Masahiro Tanaka eight shutout innings, striking out four and only allowing three hits

This has to go to Masahiro Tanaka, who has been far from a face for long stretches this season. But after the Yankees lost two straight games in Toronto to the Blue Jays, Tanaka showed up on Sunday afternoon and, when he absolutely had to be good, delivered eight shutout innings, striking out four and only allowing three hits. That gave the bullpen some much-needed rest, and had to be done since the Yankees pulled out a rare 1-0 victory in a season where it normally has clubbed opponents with its home-run binge.
